I stumbled across this birth certificate for a Eugene CALLAGHAN of 87 Fair Lane, born to Timothy CALLAGHAN, a tailor, and Mary nee KELLEHER. This Eugene was born two months after Timothy and Margaret TAYLOR’s second Eugene was born at 90 Fair Lane according to his baptismal record and for which there is no civil record. As yet, I have not been able to find this child’s baptism record. I have found no record of a Catholic marriage or state marriage between a Timothy CALLAGHAN and Mary KELLEHER in County Cork between the years 1845 – 1877, or beyond in the years 1867- 1877. A John Callaghan had married a Mary Kelleher in Cork in 1868, and a Cornelius married a Mary Kelleher in 1870 in Macroom.

I have not found any record of other children to this couple from 1867 to 1887.
I have not found a likely 1901 Census record for this family.
Is it possible this is a very incorrect transcription of the second Eugene’s birth?
Otherwise, what are we to make of this record?
