Kathleen, named Catherine at birth, and known to my mother and aunts as “Kitty”, was born 26th November 1897. She married Andrew DOWLING, an engineer, on 28th August 1920.
Andrew served in WW1 as a seaman as a medal card shows Kitty received his medals. It seems Andrew’s service was on the HMS Pelorus, in the Persian Gulf.[1]
They had the following known children[2]:

Andrew Christian DOWLING died in Cork, on 16th January 1925. He died from TB and cardiac failure at the age of just 29 years.
Kathleen remarried to John MURPHY[3], a victualler, on 25th September 1927. She was then living at 47 Gerald Griffin Street, and her occupation was house keeper. 47 Gerald Griffin Street was then the home of Michael and Mary (Davis) HYLAND and family, so we can see that “Kitty” lived with her first cousin (my grandmother) while a widow.
Kathleen “Kitty” and John MURPHY lived at 42 Boyces Street where John worked as a victualler in his family business.
I believe they had the following children:

[2] Access to Parish records cease at 1880 and the mother’s surname is only listed in state records for births from 1928 (excepting 1933).
[3]Was John MURPHY connected to the widowed Bessie MURPHY who lived with the FURLONG family in 1901?
Info on Sheila and Denis from a grandson of Walter.
