Timothy Francis, born 25 February 1905 at Magazine Rd, Cork was the ninth child of Mary B. (O’/Callaghan) and George DAVIS and their fifth to survive infancy. Timothy was named after his grandfather, Timothy O’/Callaghan, but was known as Ted.

Ted was a clerk for Irish Dunlop stores. (The Dunlop tyre factory in Cork closed in 1984.)
Ted seems to have continued the Davis love of dogs. At the Cork Summer Show of 1939 Ted’s dog Janet took third place in the Novice Bitch section of the Cairn Terriers. His success was listed in the Thursday June 29th edition of the Examiner.

Ted married Katherine Jane WADE (Kay) in the 2nd quarter 1945, at the age of 40. They had the following children:

Ted and Kay lived at 83 High St. Cork. I believe Ted had lived in England as well.

Family recollections of Ted were that he was very funny, he told corny jokes and was good humoured. He is said to have suffered from stress. He was into hurling and nuts about Glen Rovers. Ted was a lawn tennis player. He didn’t drink beer but would have a few whiskies. Either Ted or his younger brother Frank played violin.
Death
Ted died on 3rd July 1963 at St. Finbarr’s Hospital, aged 58 years.
The cause of death was Pancytopenia – cause unknown – 20 days in hospital. (This is a blood disorder with the simultaneous presence of anaemia, leucopenia, and thrombocytopenia – a decrease in red and white blood cells, and platelets.)

Ted’s death notice was in the Thursday July 4th Cork Examiner:

Ted’s death acknowledgements notice was in the Examiner on Saturday July 27th, 1963.

Ted is buried at St. Michaels, Blackrock.
